Day 1: Putting the cardboard pieces together to build up the shape of the fireplace

A little bit less than one month for Thespians Anonymous spring production Don Juan on Trial by Eric-

Emmanuel Schmitt and here we are. Saturday morning in the clubroom dealing with cardboard boxes, glue, tape

and knifes. A fireplace is needed for the set of the play so we happily decided to build it all together using cardboard

boxes and ourskills in cutting, measuring and painting.

Making the fireplace

During the first session we focused on building the shape of the fireplace. The first step was to glue the sides of the box together and make the

back side. Glue as well as tape was used to make sure that it will be strong and stable enough. Once this was done we had to measure and cut out

the three pieces needed in order to construct the frame at the front side of the fireplace.

Put another brick on the wall

Finally, we opened up a hole in order to make the wall that will be visible on the stage. For this wall, we thought that it will be a good idea to

decorate it with rectangle cardboard pieces making it look like a brick wall. Then we attached it to the frame completing in that way the front side.

At the end, we put the two large pieces together and the fireplace was ready!
